Over the last 2-years+ I have come across some very talented Finance folks who have been forced to the employment sidelines as a result of mergers, corporate bankruptcy, or in most cases, downsizing at their respective companies.
It seems like my career has taken so many different twists over the last 20-years that sometimes I wonder if I’ve been a victim to the constant upheaval cast in my direction or if, more often than not, I have just been prepared to deal with the change as it comes.
Houston, we have a problem! I’m now 12-days into the 2010 year, and almost 3-weeks since my last half-ass blog post, and a full 2-months since my last serious posting. Granted, there’s been a lot going in those two months.
Yesterday I was speaking with some peers that work in the same industry that Osiris is in and we touched on the topic of the difficulty of developing and communicating a financial vision & strategy for a company where this element was noticeably absent, or weak.
I recently had the opportunity to attend a panel discussion on the considerations to accepting a Board of Directors position. The panel was sponsored by Woodruff-Sawyer and led by Paul Folino, who is the Chairman of Emulex Corporation. The panel was also rounded out by Priya Cheria Huskins, Esq. and Bruce Lachenaur.
