SOP 97-2 has been around a long time but many finance professionals still have some core questions about it. Also, EITF 08-1 and 09-3 significantly alter the revenue recognition regulations for multi-element deals and software deals. This seminar will review the effects of the recent changes in revenue recognition regulations. Content will include: a review of SOP 97-2, ASU 2009-13 and 14; a discussion about VSOE, Third Party Evidence (TPE) and Estimated Selling Price (ESP); a review of how companies can chart a path to conversion and compliance. There will also be a discussion of how the new regulations and IFRS will come together down the road.

Kim Odom Director, Vertical Marketing, Software, NetSuite Kim is a 15 year technology veteran with experience in enterprise software applications including CRM, multichannel customer service, marketing automation, and ERP. Odom is currently the Director of Vertical Marketing, Software at NetSuite Inc. In this role she is responsible for deepening NetSuite’s penetration in the software industry and evangelizing the NetSuite Cloud to software company financial, sales, marketing and service leaders. Prior to NetSuite she worked at Contactual, a SaaS provider of customer interaction management solutions, where she was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s marketing strategy. During her tenure at Contactual, Odom played a key role in driving 65% bookings growth which led to Contactual’s acquisition by 8x8 Inc. in 2011. Her extensive background in technology also includes roles in Product Marketing, Product Management and Channel Sales with start-up, mid-market and Fortune 500 companies. |

David Kintz Assurance Manager, Burr Pilger Mayer David has been working in public accounting for over eight years, performing financial statement audits for both public and private companies. Prior to joining BPM in December 2008, David was a member of the Technology, Information, Communications, and Entertainment Group at one of the Big Four in Los Angeles, focusing his time on financial statement audits of some of the largest companies in the world. David has extensive auditing experience performing and leading financial statement audit engagements in the technology, software, telecommunications and internet media industries (both SEC and private start-ups). Furthermore, David has also worked in private industry for a year at a software company early in his career. |

Simon Westbrook CFO, Aargo Inc. Simon Westbrook specializes in providing contract CFO services to early stage technology companies. From May 2005 to May 2009 Mr. Westbrook served as Chief Financial Officer of Public Wireless, Inc, a Silicon Valley company specializing in wireless communication infrastructure and from 2004 to 2005 he was CFO of Nanoamp Solutions Inc. a memory IC company. Prior to joining Nanoamp, Mr. Westbrook was Chief Financial Officer at Sage, Inc. (NASDAQ: SAGI), a company specializing in flat panel display processor ICs. Before joining Sage, Mr. Westbrook held a number of senior financial positions at Creative Technology (NASDAQ: CREAF), a leading PC multimedia company, and Atari Corp (AMEX: ATC), the video game and home computer company both in the USA and overseas. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Masters degree in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge in the United Kingdom.Throughout his career, Mr. Westbrook has been involved in three initial public offerings, two secondary public offerings, multiple public and private M&A transactions, and numerous rounds of venture capital and angel financing. |
