This question was asked by an attendee at a recent Proformative Cloud Computing and SaaS event: How limited is customization in a cloud computing or software as a service (SaaS) solution? We need flexibiltiy as we grow to handle customized integrations and reporting. This is my biggest concern in a cloud computing / SaaS environment.

Looking for advice on best practices in regards to paying incentives on SaaS salespeople
Are they paid a percentage of the first year revenue ? or paid a fixed amount on being successful with closing a new client ? If the latter, are they paid more depending on the number of users the new client has ? Are they paid a base and incentive ?

Do Accounting Clients Use Software Features?

I'm wondering what you all think of the average accounting client out there. Are they secure enough to use the tools of SaaS? For instance, Client Portals or Online Document Management Programs - do your clients, on average, refuse to use this software? If so, why or why not? Is it out of distrust, or just the fact that it's not what they've done in the past?
