Please share with the group as to your thoughts as to the best way the IFRS being incorporated in the U.S. Should IFRS be adopted for all the companies - both listed and private companies? Will there be a benefit for the adoption of the IFRS?

What resources are you using to keep up to date with IFRS?

IFRS is gaining more and more significance for the countries around the world. There is also an expectation that the IFRS will be adopted in the U.S., this is dependent on the final decision from the U.S. SEC that is expected sometime in June 2011. What are you or your companies doing to get familiarized with the latest IFRS developments?

Just curious to know, as to what brought you here to this group? Is it the nature of your professions / job that requires you to obtain better understanding of the new accounting standards? Is it the fear of what will happen when U.S. GAAP is fully replaced with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

SEC on IFRS: Not So Fast......

The Securities and Exchange Commission has extended its time line for requiring U.S. publicly traded companies to apply international financial reporting standards to their financial statements: the earliest that U.S. companies may be able to use IFRS is now 2015.

Much has changed over the past year — market conditions, near-term convergence between IFRS and US GAAP, and the issuance of important new standards. IFRS is affecting US and non-US companies in a variety of ways and this will increase as non-US subsidiaries adopt IFRS elsewhere in the world and as key aspects of US GAAP and IFRS continue to converge.

SEC has a road map which would allow the U.S. to implement IFRS sometime in 2014. Will SEC/FASB give away U.S. GAAP for IFRS? What are your thoughts on this issue?
