Workers More Concerned Interested in Entrepreneurship than CEO Appointments
It's often assumed that most employees have their eye on that corner office, but research suggests a new generation of workers are more focused on work-life balances and the pursuit of self-employment than a position in the C-suite.
According to Intelligent Office's Work IQ survey, 65 percent of surveyed employees ultimately want to work as an entrepreneur or become self-employed. More surprisingly, not a single respondent expressed that their ultimate goal was to become a corporate executive.
Professionals also expressed a growing interest in maintaining a strong work-life balance, with nearly half touting a "work hard/play hard" sort of attitude.
Workers view technology as a key tool toward that end, with 45 percent citing mobile, wireless and computer devices as invaluable resources.
"What we continue to hear from people is that they increasingly need and expect services that will help them grow and be more successful, but they want those services to match this new work style - flexible and mobile," said Intelligent Office COO Tom Camplese. "Overall, they are seeking more balance and freedom in everything,"
