Get set up for EFTPS by going to https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/ in Internet Explorer or Firefox. For an individual, you will need your social security number or ITIN, bank account and routing numbers, and your address of record, as shown on IRS documents. If you are setting up EFTPS on behalf of a business, you will need the business' EIN, bank account and routing numbers, and address of record, as shown on IRS documents.
Initial enrollment takes minutes. Following the initial enrollment, the IRS will send you a PIN by mail within 7 business days. After receiving your PIN, return to https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/, where you will log in, and click on "Need a Password". After you have your password, you are fully enrolled in EFTPS.
We recommend that all businesses and individuals set up an EFTPS account now, before they are required to make a tax payment. Once set up, it is easy to initiate payments and ensure that they are being properly credited to your account. EFTPS registration does not give the IRS authority to initiate drafts from your bank account - all drafts must be initiated by the taxpayer.
