Risk Evaluation Tool (RET)

Posted Sun, 08/22/2010 - 6:13pm by Glenn Robertson (SVP-Internal Audit)
Details
Although some would argue it 'blurs the lines' of ownership vs. independent monitoring (the textbook function of IA), I have successfully used the attached tool, the Risk Evaluation Tool (RET), to complete a Risk Assessment process on behalf of two of my companies (IAC and Wyndham) from my role as Chief Audit Executive.
The RET was first populated by the team members of my Internal Audit group (after studying the SBU strategic and operating plans) and then sent to the SBU CEO/CFOs for completion (with the help of the also-attached RET definitions file) in advance of a formal 'all hands on deck' Risk Assessment meeting held at each SBU at which all actionable (either through business process, insurance or internal audit coverage) risks were identified and addressed with a mitigation plan.
Please contact me with any questions!
Best,
Glenn

RET
This seems to be very serviceable, Glenn. I always appreciate when someone shares a fully-worked-out and performance-tested tool for a useful function. Thanks for generously sharing this with us.
