Valuable data exists to make better financial decisions, but is out of reach for most companies.  According to a Wharton research study, companies that build and verify a set of leading indicators earn a 2.95% higher return on assets and a 5.14% higher return on equity. Yet, less than 25% of companies attempt this. Many organizations struggle with just getting their internal financial and operational results together in time let alone bringing in the added dimension of data from outside their company. Before, it was too time consuming and costly to do. Only the biggest Fortune 500 companies could afford the complex systems to manage external data.

Success is relative. Do you compare your actuals to budget? Do you look at trends over time? Or should you analyze how your organization's performance stacks up against the outside world?
