In addition to completing more than 500 valuations and fairness opinions, I have participated in numerous merger transactions, private placements, and public offerings during my career. 03/2005 - 11/2009 Managing Director I created and built the valuation practice at Pagemill Partners, before leaving to form Teknos Associates in late 2008. During that time, I participated in more than 300 valuations and fairness opinions. I also provided merger and acquisition advisory services to a number of clients, representing both buyers and sellers. Transactions included: sale of Wireless Test Solutions division of Comarco to Ascom (Switzerland); sale of Inovys to Verigy; sale of SensArray to KLA Tencor; sale of the MobileAria subsidiary of Delphi Electronics to Wireless Matrix; and purchase by Justsystem (Japan) of XMetaL division of Blast Radius.

06/1998 - 03/2005 Managing Director I built and oversaw the North American venture arm of The Daiwa Securities Group (now Daiwa Securities SMBC), called NIF Ventures. We managed more than $100 million of early and mid stage investments in information technology and life science companies, including investments in: Active Software (acquired by WebMethods), Ancore (acquired by OSI Systems), Backweb (public), CrossLogix (acquired by BEA), Digital Island (acquired by Cable & Wireless), enCommerce (acquired by Entrust), Knova (acquired by Consona), Websense (public), Whistle Communication (acquired by IBM), and Zhone (public).

Jim Timmins heads the valuation practice at Teknos. He has worked in Silicon Valley for nearly 30 years, much of that time in venture capital and investment banking. In addition to completing more than 500 valuations and fairness opinions, Jim has participated in numerous merger transactions, private placements, and public offerings during his career. Teknos Associates is a valuation firm which serves emerging growth companies and their venture capital backers. The firm has a team of experienced and credentialed valuation professionals with backgrounds in appraisal, accounting, investment banking, and venture capital. Teknos provides valuations in connection with option issuance (IRC 409A / ASC 718), post-acquisition accounting (ASC 805), asset impairment (ASC 350), and portfolio valuation (ASC 820). Before forming Teknos in 2008, Jim was a Managing Director at Pagemill Partners and at NIF Ventures (part of The Daiwa Securities Group). Earlier in his career he worked at Hambrecht & Quist and Salomon Brothers. Jim received a MBA from Stanford University and a BA from the University of Toronto. He also has earned the Accredited Senior Appraiser credential from the American Society of Appraisers. He has been a speaker on valuation and venture capital at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, the School of Law, Santa Clara University, the Practicing Law Institute, and numerous industry and trade events.
