Finance and Accounting Employees Comfortable with Job Security

A new survey from staffing company Randstad shows that while many finance and accounting workers say the economy has negatively impacted their careers, 76 percent said they strongly agree they feel secure in their jobs.

The survey, which noted that finance and accounting workers were among the least likely to be willing to sacrifice vacation time or relocate, found 78 percent said they believed their company had a great future, the Journal of Accountancy reports.

"Finance people get to see the health of a company from a different perspective from the rest of the employees," Brendan Courtney, president of accounting and finance for Randstad, told the news source. "And they’re starting to gain confidence that the companies they work for have turned the corner... Companies and individuals within those companies are starting to gain what I call ‘corporate confidence."

Despite this confidence in their current situations, however, 57 percent of finance and accounting employees said they do not believe they could find a new job today that they would be willing to accept, according to the study.

Recent studies suggest CFOs of companies are becoming more optimistic in their hiring prospects as they begin to experience growth once again.
