Major Accounting Firms Hiring

Despite the fact that many financial institutions are cutting a significant number of finance jobs, many major accounting firms have not gone along with this trend and plan to hire new workers.

FINS reports public accounting firms including KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Ernst & Young are seeking staff members to aid companies with their tax and audit needs. Many companies themselves are looking for in-house accountants.

One example of this can be found in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Extended Stay Hotels is seeking between 60 and 65 new employees for accounting positions, reports the Charlotte Observer. The hotel chain reportedly announced it was moving its headquarters to Charlotte in March, the news source said.

Additionally, while large accounting firms did not aggressively recruit entry level candidates from college campuses in 2008 and 2009 and cut a number of jobs, they are now working to make up for this, FINS reports.

"All the firms pulled back and we're scrambling not to make that same mistake," Nina Guthrie, national director, university recruiting at accounting firm Grant Thornton, told the news source. "We're bringing on even more associates from campuses."
