As technological advances increase, consumers are finding themselves constantly connected to the web via mobile devices, tablets and laptops. Because people are commonly using the internet to sign on to social media websites, this is something executives in the finance community may want to pursue to reach out to possible clients or other like-minded administrators.

A new Experian Marketing Services release entitled the 2012 Digital Marker: Benchmark and Trend Report found that marketing departments have cited multichannel advertising as a large challenge. Despite hardships marketers may face, 91 percent of adults use social media on a regular basis, so there is a large potential client presence. The three most popular platforms are Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Business 2 Community explained that the main reasons firms need a social media presence include increasing brand awareness, building a reputation, generating leads and improving relationships. Firms must do some research though, and find out which platforms are being used by their target customer base.

When marketing to social media users, the Experian study found, it is important to make sure company data is accurate, as 92 percent of firms believe their contact information is incorrect in some way.
