To obtain executive jobs in the technology realm, many are aware that they often first need to meet certain IT qualifications, including taking exams to become certified in many different fields. Normally thought of as expensive, many experts believe that with a little extra research, the process of becoming certified in the latest technological advances can be cheap and relatively easy.

According to Computerworld, going the traditional route in studying and taking certification exams can cost an individual thousands of dollars. The news source, however, suggested strategies that can be taken to ensure the process is relatively painless for the worker's wallet.

Computerworld recommended that someone studying for an IT certification exam should ask his or her employer if they will cover at least part of the cost for study materials, which is often the case for those already in an IT position. Those who are in school at the time of the exam can also check with professors and university leaders, while the same holds true for members of the military.

Theses strategies may be particularly beneficial, as many of the most lucrative certification programs are very expensive.

TechRepublic recently named the 10 best IT certifications for 2012. At the top of the list was Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008, which is beneficial for workers in a company of any size. The source also recommended the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist award and VMware Certified Professional certificate, among others.
