Budgeting in Excel

Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2015
Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
No-one likes budgeting! However, there are keys to making it work across the organization regardless of technology. This webinar will discuss how to create and manage a real corporate budget in Excel, including Excel features that can be utilized to improve the process’ accuracy and scalability.

Budgeting is often a painful process for finance and non-finance professionals alike. The increased demand for more frequent and accurate forecasts has only increased that burden. For non-finance professionals there is the problem of differentiating between operational spend and capex, accruals and prepayments, depreciation and amortization, and for finance professionals there is the problem of producing accurate budgets from operational groups who don’t understand the finance world and have their own operational biases and assumptions.

This webinar will cover how the finance professional can approach the budgeting process and how that most common finance tool, Excel, can be used to guide everyone through. Specifically:
  • Approaches to take with operational groups to increase accuracy and reduce the burden of budgeting
  • Demonstrating how Finance can make the operational groups better at what they do and raise their performance profile
  • Structuring the Excel files to provide maximum benefit
  • Using Excel functionality to smooth the way through the process
  • Discuss how to scale budgeting and planning beyond Excel using more scalable technology, without entirely abandoning the Excel that we know so well
After attending this event you will be able to:
