FP&A Transformation: Old School to Activity-Based Budgeting & Rolling Forecasts

Date: Friday, December 12, 2014

Delivering strategic value from FP&A often requires a company to reimagine their financial planning and analysis processes and systems, and take a new approach to overcome their unique challenges to achieve their business and financial goals. Each company must define its own unique transformational journey, but there are three key best practices that set the stage for a successful journey, and provide the foundation for an FP&A framework that impacts shareholder value.

Join us as Holger Mueller, VP & Principal Analyst, Constellation Research and Tina Workman, VP of Accounting/Assistant Treasurer, Shelter Insurance discuss:

  • How your FP&A team can become trusted strategic advisors to sales, marketing, human resources, and operations groups in achieving departmental goals and align their organizations with corporate objectives and strategies
  • How to establish a process and culture for cross-functional collaboration in the financial planning cycle
  • How to evaluate and modernize your company’s new and future processes, cross-functional collaboration, and analytics needs

Tina Workman will also will share Shelter Insurance’s transformation from a static FP&A environment fueled by a technology “mule” to a dynamic, collaborative environment fueled by a technology “mustang” including:

  • How her team built a culture of collaboration in transforming the FP&A function at Shelter Insurance
  • How they identified the right systems and provider partners to help them achieve their vision of what FP&A needed to deliver at Shelter Insurance
  • Lessons learned in moving to activity-based budgeting and a rolling forecast environment
After attending this event you will be able to:
Identify key components of the gap in what your company’s FP&A function is today and what it needs to be for your company

Tidemark - Tidemark doesn't think that you can move forward while looking back. An historical, database-structured view of the world is not the way business people see the world. They don't have time to learn the intricacies of advanced modeling tools. They don't ask questions in SQL. They need information, now. They need today's context. And they need to know their options and the implications of each—before the decision window closes. Tidemark's unified performance management apps give all decision makers real-time analytics, complete with their personal business contexts. Now they know what if, why, and what to do about it. They can look forward, instead of back. And because Tidemark apps are delivered from the cloud, your team always has what they need, anywhere they happen to be.
