RPA: The Practical Reality of an Automated Future

Date: Wednesday, August 23, 2017
Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
As the robots do the boring stuff they’re meant to do, accountants get to become the exceptional analysts they were always meant to be.

Historically, accountants have been responsible for the bread-and-butter of finance—efficient accounting operations, clean audits, and compliance. Yet companies today need much more from the finance function. In every industry, accountants are now expected to transition to the role of expert counsel: strategic advisors with an understanding of the entire business, analytical capabilities, and near-mythological forecasting abilities.

Susan Parcells, of BlackLine, will discuss capabilities that can enable any accountant to deliver predictive insights to leadership, drive data-based decisions, and provide expert counsel.
After this webinar, you will be able to:
Understand how the roles of accountants and controllers have changed over the last few years.
Identify six skills needed for a rapidly changing future including analytical, communication, and relationship skills, as well as creativity, tech-savvy, and business acumen.
Prepare yourself for the future of robotic process automation.

Sr. Director of Finance Transformation, BlackLine
Throughout her career as both an auditor and various management positions within Accounting, Susan recognized that the traditionally manual processes within the financial close were not only inefficient but often times exposed companies to risk. She began to focus on process improvement around the close, helping accounting teams reduce their workload and instead use their analytical skills to focus on other value-added activities, all while enhancing controls around those processes She now spends her time attending conferences, tradeshows and other venues to educate companies on ways in which they can optimize their financial close processes along with having great control around them. Her greatest passion is helping others, which makes this role at BlackLine a perfect fit.
