We are fully leveraging the analytics capability of Adaptive insights but not only using it for budgeting and forecasting, but in addition leverage it as our reporting and Management discussion and analysis solution. We have all the departments trained on using adaptive insights and with a deep integration with our General Ledger Solomon, we are able to fully leverage our drill down capabilities and pull the individual GL and AP entries to analyze variances

A gift from the software gods. Solved my reporting aches/pains effortlessly and gained much needed control over the budgeting process. Extremely easy to use and perfectly suited for someone in need of a less expensive, less complicated, easy to implement EPM/CPM/BPM solution. Highly recommended.

The product is exactly what we were looking for. We use it primarily for budgeting, but there are some reporting elements that we're looking into since we were so happy with the product. There are small tweaks that can be made, but Adaptive is very responsive to suggestions. The only suggestion I would make, is be sure to get a good lead implementer. I'd recommend Stacy Towe. She was outstanding. Much better than the first person we got.

Several of our high growth clients have installed Adaptive and have been very satisfied with it. If Excel no longer works for you you should evaluate Adaptive. They are winning all the awards and seem to be the product to beat. Not only are they good for planning but it is great reporting tool with actuals. They have integrations with Netsuite and Dynamics which makes it easy to bring in actuals. Adaptive also allows for consolidation, multi currency, eliminations etc.

Adaptive Planning has finally put Excel into the cloud in a safe and more effective way. We implemented Adaptive Planning in May 2012 to assist with our budgeting and forecasting process. Coincidentally, our company was experiencing a dynamic period including the departure of our financial reporting manager. We found this tool to be a critical time-saver to make strategic decisions with the appropriate accounting facts to forecast new trends more effectively without having to hire replacement or temporary personnel.

One of the most common difficulties of forecasting is managing different versions. We established over 20 scenarios by making new changes in the inputs in a secure on-line saved version that we were confident was not running into formulaic errors. The adjustments allowed us to finish a timely new budget. Based on these changes, we then utilized the tool to create a five-year forecast.

The final budget was integrated into NetSuite to assure that the final version was being used for budget to actual comparisons. As the fiscal year budget was established, we then took the next step to measure economic denominators in Adaptive Planning. As some of these economic denominators are calculated with accounting data as well as non-accounting data, we were able to sync the actual data and calculate these economic denominators without the need to manage additional spreadsheets.

Due to the ease of use and effectiveness of this tool, we plan to start a quarterly rolling forecasts in our next fiscal year. If you are interested in an effective forecasting and budgeting tool, I highly recommend Adaptive Planning.

Adaptive Planning's cloud-based budgeting system allows better control of the budgeting process. It also provides the ability to capture budget assumptions that drive the budget and build a comprehensive budget model. Actuals and budget assumptions can be easily uploaded into the model for analysis and planning for future periods. It is an extremely flexible and easy to use tool that allows for more sophisticated budget modeling and analysis than is possible with excel or budget modules built into accounting systems. the only reason I give it four stars rather than five is that if your basic budget model changes from year to year, it is a little cumbersome to adjust the structure and formulas.

Adaptive Planning's (AP) solution is multi-dimensional and has the capability of being very in-depth (or simple) depending on your planning needs. We utilized a third-party implementation firm (Intuitive-Tek) to assist us in getting the solution in place. Having never used a planning + forecasting solution (besides Excel) there was a large range of additional activities and discussions required to get the solution fully functional. If possible, I would strongly recommend dedicating an individual to this implementation and allow that person to become your AP expert as the system is very powerful as long as you're capable of utilizing it's functionalities.

It’s very easy to use from an end-user perspective and easy to implement. It mimics excel which makes it easier to implement a new process and system that is very similar to your old process (easy adoption, not a lot of resistance). It allows for a lot of versioning and modeling and is really as powerful as you design it to be. We also like the reporting features as they are very customizable. Maintaining the underworking (organizational structure, formulas, assumptions) of your model is easy but can become cumbersome so put in the work on the overall framework upfront to save a lot of backend time later.

What I liked most
The implementation process was great and the implementation rep was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the product and was able to help us set up our process, recommending best practices and solutions. From an end-user perspective, Adaptive is very intuitive as it looks and feels like Excel so there is very little training needed. I’ve also attended their Advanced Administrator trainings and user groups and have thought they were extremely valuable.

What I liked least:
The support that originally came directly from Adaptive Planning was taken over by NetSuite, which we have not found satisfactory so we will be exploring partnering with a third party vendor for any of our support needs.

The product is very flexible, requires little IT involvement and has phenomenal customer support.

What I liked most
Flexibility, great customer support, feature rich, easy to use.

What I liked least:
The version we used did not contain all the hooks to other systems. Glad they have created these features.

Adaptive Planning ("AP") is a cloud based planning and budgeting application that is very cost effective and is a very easy replacement for Excel spreadsheets when you need an alternative to Excel. I found that AP beats the most planning systems in price and rivals the functionality of Hyperion, SAP, Cognos and the other big boys.. For a few thousand dollars a year (think of it as software maintenance) you get a robust database planning system that seems to fit most organization structures and allows for distributed data input. AP interfaces with several accounting systems and is an effective consolidation engine for multi-location/subsidiary companies. The best part about it is that AP feels like Excel and all of the reporting can be done in customized Excel reports. I have used AP for almost 3 years. I have used it regularly since then. It took me 3 weeks to set up the structure for 3 subsidiaries and an HQ. AP offers professional services if you want AP to set up your structure and they have outstanding customer support and training. I have saved days and even weeks in the planning process. When I factored in the IT cost of supporting a software application internally AP becomes extremely cost effective. AP is well worth consideration if you are looking for a planning and budgeting application.

Adaptive Planning (AD) is an outstanding modeling and reporting tool. This is especially true at it's price point. It has 75% of everything you would get from Tier 1 Performance Management products at a fraction of the price. What it does particularly well is formulas and modeling. In many products you require computer programmers to write the 'Logic' that runs complex calculations. This takes time and money. With AD the accounting administrator can do all calculations and all other functions. IT is only part of the picture when getting properly formatted outputs from various systems. The product is highly intuitive and very flexible. So long as you have good controls around your general ledger it can also be a good consolidation and reporting option for small and medium sized businesses. I recommend it highly.
