Dropbox

Dropbox is a home for all your photos, docs, videos, and files. Anything you add to Dropbox will automatically show up on all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website — so you can access your stuff from anywhere.

Dropbox also makes it super easy to share with others, whether you're a student or professional, parent or grandparent. Even if you accidentally spill a latte on your laptop, have no fear! Relax knowing that your stuff is safe in Dropbox and will never be lost.

Dropbox works hard to make sure that all your stuff is the same wherever you happen to be. Start a doc from a computer at school or work, make edits from your phone on the way home, then add finishing touches from a tablet in your living room.

With apps available for all your computers, phones, and tablets, you can show off videos, automatically upload photos, or open documents from anywhere.

Dropbox has made it easy to bring my work home and to share it with others without the intervention for any other people or departments. The free space they provide is more than enough for most uses and it is not very expensive to purchase any more.

Dropbox is very easy to use and implement. We often have to share large files with internal and external sources and instead of having to email them out, we use Dropbox for sharing and storing them. This helps our email by not locking it up due to the large file size. We often create separate folders so we can only share the files we want and keep others private.

Since this is stored on the cloud, we can access the files in our Dropbox from remote locations. This is really useful when travelling. So now instead of having to transfer presentations or files onto a drive, we just access directly from our Dropbox. If we make changes to a file and save it, it is updated instantly in the Dropbox folder and everyone who has access can view the most updated version.

Dropbox also offers an app for the iPhone, iPad, and android devices so you can have access anywhere, anytime. We use Dropbox on a daily basis.

Dropbox is one of many cloud based multi-user backup and file sharing products on the market. It is accessible via your computer (PC or Mac), your smart phone/tablet or via your web browser.

You can permit other individuals the ability to share folders and/or files, whether they are a Dropbox customer or not.

The iPhone app works extremely well, however because it is a iPhone, there are limits to what can be downloaded and/or viewed.

One freature that I like is the ability to hide directories on individual machines so as not to duplicate the Dropbox directory and conserve disk space on that particular computer (as well as I/O and bandwidth).

Dropbox is a single possible (and for the pure at heart CIO’s, NOT ideal solution) small business or department data recovery system. It will not restore your operating system, but can be configured to save not only your data, but configuration files (if any) and original program installation files.
