We implemented Intacct in 2009. It is a great step up from the smaller accounting packages if you are a growing company. The ease with which you are able to add users, new entities, dimensions, etc. gives you a wonderful sense of control and scaling has not been a problem for us (we started with one entity and 2 users and now have multiple subs and over a dozen users). If you are a Salesforce user the IntacctMax out of the box integration performs as promised. Billing is a push-button exercise with all the relevant bits of information transferred over from the opportunity into Intacct.
Being a SaaS product, access from anywhere at any time is a plus. You can log in and see enhancements and updates at any time. I’m a huge fan of the Intacct Customer Portal where users submit ideas for product features and enhancements and vote them up. I’ve seen multiple submissions work their way into product releases, so this is truly a part of their roadmap/development process.
I do wish that they offered better (or more) bank integration options. I believe they have a relationship with one bank, but that is about it.
Intaact is a solid mid-level ERP which offers a solution for companies looking to graduate from QuickBooks. Intacct has allowed us to streamline the quote to cash process by synchronizing with our salesforce.com CRM. The manual steps of submitting an order has been substituted with online Sales Order submissions. This allows are sales team to concentrate on selling, and not filling out paperwork.
As Intacct is still a growing company/product, new releases of the product are released every so often with new features. Often times with these new releases, there are bugs or glitches but they are quickly ironed out in the next few days/weeks.
To fully utilize new features, I recommend purchasing consulting hours with Intacct for Best Practices.
Overall, I am please with the product/level of customer service I receive from Intacct.
Product is very customizable to tailor to your business/industry.
What I liked most
Customizable
What I liked least:
Glitchy
What I liked most
The feature I really liked the most is the Intacct upload entries. We have over the 30 business entities that have a common chart of accounts. As such, we are able to do a single payroll entry or a single depreciation entry instead of 30 different ones.
What I liked least:
Intacct's report writer is great as it is flexible but they can also be cumbersome to maintain. If a user if the report asks for metrics or accounting data to be presented a certain way, each individual report must be updated for this change. As such, a single change to accounting data or metrics can take an inordinate amount of time to fix across multiple reports.
What I liked most
I think the biggest upside to Intacct compared to other ERPs I have used is the compatibility to other systems such as salesforce.com and Avalara Tax. This helps to streamline our entire business and mitigate manual processes.
What I liked least:
The only downfall to Intacct would be the somewhat slow loading of new pages, but I think this may be more of an internal Internet connectivity issue. So I wouldn't ding Intacct for this.
What I liked most
I can see who has approved my T&E and when. I can see the bottlenecking and act accordingly.
What I liked least:
None
What I liked most
Centralization of all data into one database
What I liked least:
Customization is not friendly. You cannot customized standard reports, which can be frustrating when you want to add fields to the reports Intacct already has set up
What I liked most
What I liked least:
What I liked most
User Friendly, Online training, and Customer Service Support
What I liked least:
Sensitivity with certain characters. We have had several project names include special characters and they have locked up the system.
What I liked most
The ease of use.
What I liked least:
The reporting functions.
What I liked most
The new Financial Report Writer and the improved journal entry functionality.
What I liked least:
The inability for Inacct to accomodate consolidations. Come on guys, where is the consolidation module?
What I liked most
Integration with SF
What I liked least:
Reporting functionality
What I liked most
The ability to process accounts payable without the paper shuffle.
What I liked least:
The flexibility in reporting design
What I liked most
Product is easy to use! Our company had a meeting to teach us about Intacct and it only took a total of 5 minutes.
What I liked least:
I come from a creative company, so anything to spruce it up or maybe friendlier reminder emails.
What I liked most
I enjoy being able to drill down from the financial statements all the way to source documents with just a few clicks.
What I liked least:
We have not found anything yet.
I sourced Intacct originally for my business use back in 2002, when this software company was just starting out with their SAAS accounting solution. These folks pioneered the concept of what is now “cloud computing” and have always had very strong product. Many current players in the ERP market eventually began to jump on the bandwagon and copy their approach.
There are lots of integration features with Intacct and they do XML especially well. I would say the strongest feature of Intacct is their financial reporting. You can create any kind of financial presentation you want and with some forethought can tie both financial and operational metrics. These reports can then be deployed to various audiences via system dashboards, scheduled e-mails, etc. It became a huge timesaver when I was dealing with managers in offices across the US. They also have a robust consolidation feature, which reporting accountants know can get hairy to deal with.
The only downside I can offer is that the system can get pricey if you have a large company and accounting team that needs to access. Then again, if you are at that point, all the viable systems are going to be somewhat in the same range for what you need an ERP to do…
I highly recommend Intacct for companies that have their sites on 8+ digit revenue levels, dispersed staff, multiple companies and/or a global presence. Install it early in your company and grow with it!
