Consultant and Entrepreneur : Self-Employed - [2005-04 to Current]
• Provide investment and retirement advice and services for individual clients. Attempt to improve clients’ confidence in making the majority of their own financial decisions, with the goal to make them self-sufficient for several of the more common retirement financial issues. • Actively manage and trade personal stock portfolios and manage several other individual entities’ portfolios, all of which have performed exceptionally better than the applicable benchmarks for the corresponding asset classes and the market taken as a whole. • Consult with principals and managers of hedge funds, venture capitalists, business owners, Board of Director members and corporate officers on macro events, industry activities, trends and outlooks, and company operations, activities, and financial results, as well as providing project specific analyses.

Treasurer : Michaels Stores, Inc. - [1994-04 to 2005-04]
• Conceptualized the multi-phased project and led the corporate team to create and implement an internal system to independently process and route all retail store point-of-sale transactions. • Created Michaels’ internal Check Collections Department. • Administered the 401(k) Plan, Deferred Compensation Plan, Employee Stock Option Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. • Developed the company’s capital expenditure requisition process. • Created and oversaw the financial analysis process of the company’s long-term strategic initiatives. • Directed the Investor Relations activities of the Company. • Point person for all capital structure activities. • Developed a sophisticated EVA model/five-year forecast of the corporation. • Envisioned and developed Michaels’ Electronic Gift Card Program.

Treasury Manager : FoxMeyer Corporation - [1992-12 to 1994-04]
• Refined and automated the short-term cash flow forecasting process. • Performed and analyzed a comprehensive lock-box site study and reconfigured the entire corporate cash concentration network based upon this analysis. • Devised more efficient means to concentrate monies collected at remote locations, reducing idle cash balances by over $3 million. • Created and the entire corporate cash management procedures, documents and forms.

Cash Manager : Pearle Vision, Inc. - [1990-06 to 1992-09]
• Streamlined the corporate and retail bank and credit card services required and then re-negotiated the associated fees. Consolidated 252 bank accounts into 53. • Refined check acceptance, check verification and bad check collection procedures. Analyzed and subsequently eliminated an unprofitable check guarantee process. • Developed an automated in-house mainframe-based electronic cash concentration system to consolidate remote retail bank deposits. • Implemented a credit card charge-back reduction program. • Introduced an automated foreign currency payment system to reduce the translation and transaction expenses associated with foreign exchange.

Cash Manager : Lone Star Gas Company - [1984-04 to 1990-06]
• Justified the creation of, and chosen to head, the company’s new Cash Management Department. • Performed a thorough monthly review of all corporate bank accounts and banking related activities to correct erroneous billings and eliminate unnecessary services. • Improved deposit and disbursement procedures, primarily by implementing several inexpensive, no-tech/low-tech solutions. • Developed and implemented an in-house automated cash concentration system. • Created the initial Job Functions and Procedures Manual for each position within the department.
