Intuit has released the QuickBooks 2010 R17 update for the U.S. Windows version of QuickBooks. Since Intuit is retiring the 2010 product this May I have a feeling that this will be the last maintenance release that we’ll see for it.
This is available as a manual update from the Intuit support web site. Please note that at the time this is being posted I have not worked with this release extensively. I would expect that this will be available as an automatic update about a week later.
There are very few changes here:
- The latest version of Intuit Sync Manager is included – this is the feature that synchronizes your desktop database with the “cloud” version of your database that is used by add-on applications that are found in the Intuit App Center (as well as a growing number of Intuit services).
- There is a fix for a problem that can occur when you export your QuickBooks company file to QuickBooks Online and your QuickBooks company name has some special characters.
- The help topic on registering QuickBooks has been corrected to match the information in this QuickBooks support KB article.
- This one is confusing – the Intuit release notes talk about a “known issue”, and it isn’t clear if there is a FIX to the known issue, or if this is an issue known about this new release. It isn’t all that important, though- it has to do with opening the “Sample Product Based company” sample file, you would get a prompt for a new QuickBooks release being available. Since I rarely look at the sample files, I haven’t noticed this being a problem?
Not a lot of changes here, which is what you would expect from a release that is near the end of is life cycle.
