I hate to give this canned response however the position of the controller does vary depending on the size of the company and industry.

A Controller in a large organization will have support teams to assist in day to day duties, and they may assist the CFO in financial statement prep, whereas a Controller in a smaller firm may do the day to day as well as prepare financial statements.

The easiest approach might be doing a Google search of Controller in the specific field you are looking.

I would ask the prospective employer for the job description.
Personally, I wouldn't apply for a position without knowing what the position consists of, but that's just me.

Look at Craig's list job postings for Controllers etc. in a major metro area for detail's. I would make sure your spelling and English grammar are correct. What is an enternal auditer?
