Adaptive Planning

Is anyone out there using SAS Financial Management for their adaptive planning needs?  Could you comment on pros and cons vs. other providers, how well it works in scenario analysis and rolling up multiple operating budgets?  How easy is it to learn?

I am a big user of Adaptive Planning for managing planning and forecasting. Adaptive Planning is a true database system that is very user friendly. It saves days and weeks over using spreadsheets which can be fraught with hidden errors. Version 6 rivals much larger more expensive systems such as Hyperion and is more dynamic than other cheaper alternatives like Prophix or Maestro. Reporting is easy. It works very well with Excel where templates can be built. The templates are stored in the database so that the reports can be run on any computer, anywhere. Set up for 3 entities took 3 weeks for the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow. I track investors, stock options and personnel in the database as well. It has truly met all of my planning and reporting needs.

Thanks for your response -- it sounds as if you are using the actual software by Adaptive Planning -- which looks very user friendly. I'm in a position of having to learn SAS FM as a standalone system for doing adaptive planning for multiple divisions. Am I understanding you correctly -- or were you responding as an SAS user?

Sorry, I misread your inquiry. I was making a comment about Adaptive Planning, the product.

I appreciate your response -- just for info -- how many contributors do you have into the system? And are all using AP, or are some providing spreadsheet data? And do you have separate levels of security access on the rollups?

Can you tell me what your transactional system is and how AP interfaces with it? If it is interfacing how long did it take to put the integration together. I am using MS Dynmanics GP. Which is fairly adaptable so I don't think it will be an issue but thought I would throw it out there for discussion.
