Our company gives us a cafeteria plan of $600 a month after 1yr. This is to pay for health insurance for ourselves and family if we choose. The company uses ProService for health plans with HMSA and a Kaiser plan. Cheapest plan for single is about 470 while same plan for employee and spouse is over $1200. An employee that has this plan, has an amount taken from employee to pay the difference for spouse. Does that mean the employee can claim the amount for taxes since coming out of their check?
