Can I code an independent contractor to salaries and wages?

I wouldn't because when you do your quarterly and year end wage reporting to the Federal and State governments, you won't be able to tie your salary and wage expense against these reports.
Normally, you would code an independent contractor to contract or professional services.

In addition, you might be audited and that would bring up an issue you may not want raised.
