Capitalize or Expense New Accounting Software

Joshua Hall's Profile

Hi everyone, we are switching from Quickbooks to Intacct and I was wondering if we can capitalize those costs.

Lets say for example the implementation costs are $15K, and the annual/recurring costs are $5K. Can I capitalize both the implementation and the annual costs? Or just the annual costs?

I think you can amortize the implementation costs, but may need to refer to your subscription contract to determine period of amortization.
Annual subscription costs I believe are opex.
