I am looking for the "CapMx equivalent" for HR

Can anybody recommend a HR tracking/management software for a company with approx. 50 employees.

Hi Evelyn, for a company with 50 employees you may want to inquire if your payroll administrator / system has "add - on" HRIS module (assuming you use a 3rd party for payroll). In the cloud would also be preferred architecture to lower the "cost of ownership". Absent having more details about your business, I would suggest paychex, ceridian or ADP. Hope this helps.

SuccessFactors has a small business product. I don't have direct experience but you can ask them for references. This is a more involved product (360 review tracking and the like).

As Malak indicated, pretty much every GL system has some sort of HRIS functionality. In the case of Quickbooks it is pretty limited, but it is there.

It would help if you would list the functions you were looking for.

Notably, in my last startup (of similar scale), in the US our system of record was ADP...they seem to get better every day. We were at 65 people, and the additional functionality we wanted (which tended to be role specific) we covered with Excel and Clicktime (note we were not hourly; Clicktime let us determine who was working on what at any given time...worked wonderfully...very robust for what it was).

I had previously in 2003 used NetSuite for HRIS, and it was really awful (the service person indicated honest surprise that I was actually trying to use it). I hear it has improved significantly since then.

HR functionality is frequently built into your payroll system or you can upgrade for a modest fee. It is often an overlooked feature. What is great is all the data is in one place. Alternatively ZOHO have a low cost solution called Zoho People and they have a sister recruiting product called Zoho Recruit
