Q&A Forum

A client has offered to pay my travel expenses to give a speech abroad. Is this income? Deductable?

Willy Clint's Profile

I get paid a lot to give speeches.

I've been offered give a speech in Asia for several hundred thousand dollars. Additionally, my agent has arranged for my client to provide a private jet, valued at $400,000.

Do I have to declare this as income? If so, can I deduct it?

My wife has a high profile job and people look into these things, I'm just trying to do the right thing by the american people.
