Detecting P Card Fraud

Have you come across PCARD fraud where the receipt is electronically altered to change a personal receipt to that of a company's expense?

With Adobe Acrobat or other package, you can scan and edit a receipt, re-save it under a new PDF file name and submit it as a company expense receipt.

Why do you suspect this? That may be the telling factor.:)

Hi Len, are you aware of any software that may detect edits to PDF documents?

You might consider comparing the date of the date of the PCard receipt with the creation date of the pdf file by going to "properties". A "created" date after the date of the transaction could indicate the receipt was not the original.

Hi, the receipt was altered with paint brush and submitted in hard copy. We caught one because of a tip off and others because of the type of spend and the receipts kind of look odd with font sizes, etc., but we do not have time to scrutinize each one, even though the risk of fraud is real. This happens in expense reimbursement as well. I too was looking for a software to help me with it. Any forensic auditing tools available for this type of prevention/detection?

Let me go further.....you just don't have a process (expense reimbursement/reporting) problem, you have a culture and manpower quality problem.

Try working with partners in some obscure countries. You will understand.
