Where do you research when you're looking for scanning solutions?

I'm curious to know....if your company is currently or has in the past researched document scanning or document management options, where did you start?

I hate to keep using this common refrain, but "it depends".

So the question is what are you attempting to do? If it is just scanning old files for storage, then speak with Iron Mountain about their services. If you are talking about a step in the Accounts Payable process, I would start with your Accounting software provider because most of them (I worked with a VAR for an SAP add on for scanning to routing solution) have an add on product / solution to automate the workflow.

I'll reuse this answer to another "like" question

"I love these questions and answers.

There is no "best" system!

There is the "best" system for you, the individual company that meets your needs based on an exacting analysis using a best practice approach.

Is it a horizontal marketed product? Maybe. But it also may be a vertical. How would you know unless you did a needs matrix and then your research?""
