Fund Raising & Cash Handling

We are a 501(c)(3) with 14 distributed locations and a "corporate office". There are fundraising events at each of the various locations. I'm looking for some input on what types of controls I can put in place to provide integrity to the fund raising cash handling process."

How is the cash handled currently? Do you take $ at the door, do people sign-up online? Who is responsible for handling the $ and reporting on it at each location?

Well, I guess the issue is we do a multitude of things. I'm searching fro some standardization and to implement a charity wide procedure. We do accept cash, checks and credit cards "at the door" and via mail. The individual locations assign one or more persons to handle the incoming receipts and make deposits to their local bank account. Theythen send a copy of the deposit or the credit card summary to me at the central location.
