I would refer you to the "The Essential XBRL Quality Checklist" posted after a Proformative webinar focused on XBRL. https://www.proformative.com/resources/essential-xbrl-quality-checklist

Use an appropriate checklist, which should be available from your outside accountants or any financial reporting service that your company subscribes to. There are different checklists for interim reporting, annual reporting, public companies, etc.

Have someone involved in financial reporting fill out the checklist and then some other appropriate person review it and sign off on it. Your outside auditors will usually want to review it also.

As a former SEC Assistant Chief Accountant, there is no substitute for having at least one (preferably more) dedicated SEC reporting specialist on your staff with years of appropriately focused training and experience supported with access to an online technical accounting research service which will provide timely regulatory updates and current checklists. Such individual must be further supported by appropriately qualified external auditors and lawyers.
