Maternity holiday accrual

Hi all,

one of our employees is in maternity and would be back at the beginning of next year. The company has accrued her holiday up to May but I am not sure whether I should accrue her holiday now that she is off in maternity or whether she would be paid any unused holiday since she will not be working for the rest of the year.

Check with your HR Department and/or Labor Attorney. Normally time off is only accrued while the person is working and the earning of it is suspended when the person is on a leave. It may depend on the wording of your policies or the local labor laws.
