RE: Mentoring/Coaching for financial executives

Hi. I am the CFO of a 100 person software/telecommunications firm in Illinois. Does anyone have any recommendations for individuals/firms providing coaching/mentoring services? Preferably someone being a prior financial exec type.

Thank you.

There is an accounting firm in Palatine, IL that has a CFO group. I believe they might be able help with coaching/mentoring. The guy running the program was the CFO of several different manufacturing companies prior to doing the consulting gig. Contact information below...

It would be helpful if you could be more specific. Are you referring to leadership qualities (e.g.listening, communication, talent identification, talent evaluation, presentation, speaking, etc.) or technical areas that CFO's handle (e.g. risk management, cash management, strategic planning, taxation, contracts and administration). I believe these are entirely different skill sets. Most CFO's possess some degree or all of the (latter) technical skills, the former is a different story. I believe the two require different coaching skills. It would be great to know better what you are attempting to achieve.

Everyone - Thank you for your posts.

Doug - Good question. Agreed, my initial question wasn't overly specific. I was referring to leadership qualities in the context of managing my career / career progression etc...
Thank you.

If your company has an adequate training & travel budget, I highly recommend attending the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC. There are several leadership training programs to choose from and can vouch that it made a difference in my career.
Good Luck!
