Anyone know a good recent survey report on Silicon Valley venture backed company employee compensation including salary, bonus and option plans?

Advanced HR works with a lot of the largest venture capital firms and their portfolio companies, so it has a great database. You can find the website at and the expert is Dee DiPietro at (415) 362-2200.

I tried Advanced HR and also talked to a couple firms which specialize in compensation benchmarking and analysis. The ones I talked to all use Advanced HR. Radford is mentioned as data source if your company is not tech start-up, instead a more mature company.

Advanced HR asks you to input information about your company and information about the positions. It takes sometime to organize the data and upload into their database at Advanced HR job code and job level. Once that is done, you can immediately access to executive compensation survey without a fee. I checked the result against a paid report I got somewhere else. Not much difference. You are able to filter by industry and location. But your sample size is going to be smaller. If you want information more than executives, you have to pay a fee of $1700. So far, I am not able to find something better than Advanced HR.
