We have had a developer develop an app for us. What is the life expectancy? or what amortization rate would you use?

Why not use typical software depreciation years. The likelihood that the application will be in inuse past that time period these days is unlikely.

On further investigation I found that the app is based on a subscription framework. So if we cancel the contract we have no app.
